Zones 7 to 9, maybe hardy to zone 5 with winter protection.
Full sun to part shade.
Plants reach 1 to 2 inches tall;
creeping stems may spread indefinitely to form a ground cover mat.
Growth rate: Medium, however it can spread aggressively in ideal growing conditions.
Creeping, evergreen perennial forms a flat mat of tiny tiny round leaves. White star-shaped flowers with purple veining bloom from late spring through early summer and form small red-purplish berries in the autumn.
Pratia angulata grows in most locations, though it performs best in peaty, well-drained soil, with consistent moisture. Minimal care is required, and could cut back to keep contained. Fertilize if leaves turn yellowish. Tolerating boggy conditions and foot traffic, White Star Creeper is an excellent choice for between stepping stones in damp areas.
Excellent as in containers or hanging baskets, as edging, ground cover, between stepping stones and mass plantings. |
