Phlox paniculata 'David' - (25) plants

Zone 3 to 8. Full sun to partial shade. Plants reach 24 to 48 inches tall and 24 to 36 inches wide, upright, clump-forming.

Months of enormous clusters of fragrant, bright white flowers. Panicles are 6 to 9 inches long and 6 to 8 inches wide, with 1 inch diameter florets. The glossy leaves are thin with bristly hairs on the margins.
Phlox paniculata grow well in moderately fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soil. Rich, moist, organic soil and mulch are beneficial as it is intolerant of drought. 'David' is resistant to powdery mildew, but good air circulation, occasional thinning of stems and watering at the base of the plant are recommended.
Phlox paniculata is unequaled for showy blooms over a long period throughout the summer. Though they are some of the most popular perennials available, they do require some maintenance to sustain their health and vigor.
Deadheading faded flower panicles may prolong blooms into early fall. Attracts birds and butterflies. A garden mainstay, excellent for perennial borders, mass planting, corners and for cut flowers. Phlox is a member of the Polemoniaceae family and is native from New York to Georgia, and west to Arkansas and Illinois. |
