Description

Penstemon barbatus PINACOLADA Series-Violet Shades (30)ct Ellepots
Common Name: Beardtongue (because sterile stamen has a tuft of small hairs).
Zones 4 to 8.
Full sun.
Plants reach 8 to 12 inches tall and 6 to 8 inches wide.
Growth rate: Moderate, erect herbaceous clump-forming perennial.

A new series of Penstemons, PINACOLADA has an earlier bloom time and a well-branched compact, uniform habit. Panicles of violet-purple flowers are produced over a very long period from early summer through early fall.
Penstemons are very drought tolerant perennials that are easy to grow in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soil. Root rot can occur in wet, poorly-drained soils. Soil fertility need only be average, but a light mulch in winter is recommended. Rarely bothered by insects or diseases.
When planted in mass, Penstemons make a tremendous color statement attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. Attributes: flower borders, cut flowers and foliage, drought tolerant, mass plantings, salt tolerant and easy to grow.

Guidelines for Handling and Transplanting Elle Plugs
1) We strive to send every Elle plug with sufficient moisture to last through shipping. Upon delivery of your order, inspect all Elle plugs for soil moisture.
2) Water any plugs that appear to be dry immediately. If the Elle paper is dry, then the plug is drying out. All plugs arrive with the addition of a wetting agent to facilitate prompt, even water absorption.
3) If the Elle plugs are to be held for a period of time before transplanting, check the plugs regularly to ensure they are evenly moist. Do not let plugs dry out.
4) Just before transplanting, re-check moisture level of all plugs scheduled to be transplanted. Ensure that plugs are thoroughly moist.
