Description
Erianthus ravennae (30)ct Ellepots
Common Name: Ravenna Grass, Plume Grass,
Northern Pampas Grass, hardy pampas grass.
Zones 5 to 8 (perhaps 4 to 10);
Full Sun.
Mature size 9 to 12 (perhaps to 20) feet height, spreads 6 to 8 feet.
Growth Rate: Moderate; upright arching form, Easy to grow

Coarse to medium texture gray-green leaves. In late summer, flower spikes produce two foot long silvery flower panicles with hints of purple; panicles lighten to white in fall. The fall color of Erianthus is just as spectacular as the feathery plumes. Multiple colors including orange, tan, purple, and beige blend throughout the plant. The brown, dried stalks form looming shadows in winter, and are especially beautiful when planted with a backdrop of dark green or with the white of snow.

Part of the sugarcane family, Erianthus ravennae is a giant of the ornamental grass world. Considered by many to be the best substitute for Pampas Grass in northern regions, they share similar plumes and height. Outstanding choice as accent or architectural specimen, its imposing size and durability also makes it a good selection as a tall screen or windbreak.

This species is the most cold hardy and toughest of the Erianthus genus. Known for being very adaptable, this plant will grow in nearly any soil as long as it has full sun. It is drought tolerant, but prefers fertile, moist, well drained soil.

Plumes are often used in fresh and dried flower arrangements. Attributes: border plants, cut and dried flowers, drought tolerant, mass planting, salt tolerant. Deer resistant.

The Ellepot System is a method of growing in a peat media filled paper tube. Ellepots are environmentally friendly and decompose in the garden.

An Ellepot is a root permeable, biodegradable paper sleeve, instead of plastic. It is beneficial to plant development as root system does not spiral, and natural root development is encouraged.

Guidelines for Handling and Transplanting Elle Plugs

1) We strive to send every Elle plug with sufficient moisture to last through shipping. Upon delivery of your order, inspect all Elle plugs for soil moisture.
2) Water any plugs that appear to be dry immediately. If the Elle paper is dry, then the plug is drying out. All plugs arrive with the addition of a wetting agent to facilitate prompt, even water absorption.
3) If the Elle plugs are to be held for a period of time before transplanting, check the plugs regularly to ensure they are evenly moist. Do not let plugs dry out.
4) Just before transplanting, re-check moisture level of all plugs scheduled to be transplanted. Ensure that plugs are thoroughly moist.
