Description
Echinacea purpurea 'Meringue' PP20537 (30)ct Ellepots
Common Name: Coneflower; Series Name: Cone-fections Series;
Zones 3 to 8.
Full sun to part shade.
Plants reach 18 inches tall and 16 to 18 inches wide ;
Clumping habit. Growth rate: Moderate.

A double white Echinacea, white ray petals surround a creamy yellow pom-pom with an apple green center. As the flowers age, the pom-pom expands and turns a lighter yellow color. This dwarf, knee-high variety blooms from mid through late summer.

'Meringue' is the perfect size for growing in decorative containers, small courtyard gardens, or near the front of the flower border.

Coneflowers like it sunny and hot. Though they will tolerate light shade, fewer flowers will be produced and the plants will be weakened. Light, loamy soils are best but coneflowers will grow in any well-drained soil. Once established, they are quite drought tolerant.

Excellent as a border plant, in mass or containers, as cut flower or foliage, dried flower or seed heads; fragrant flowers attract butterflies. If deadheaded, the bloom cycle will be extended. However, some spent blooms should be left on the plants in fall because their seeds provide winter food for finches and other birds. The dried seed heads also provide interest in the winter. Deer resistant.

The Ellepot System is a method of growing in a peat media filled paper tube. Ellepots are environmentally friendly and decompose in the garden.

An Ellepot is a root permeable, biodegradable paper sleeve, instead of plastic. It is beneficial to plant development as root system does not spiral, and natural root development is encouraged.

Guidelines for Handling and Transplanting Elle Plugs

1) We strive to send every Elle plug with sufficient moisture to last through shipping. Upon delivery of your order, inspect all Elle plugs for soil moisture.
2) Water any plugs that appear to be dry immediately. If the Elle paper is dry, then the plug is drying out. All plugs arrive with the addition of a wetting agent to facilitate prompt, even water absorption.
3) If the Elle plugs are to be held for a period of time before transplanting, check the plugs regularly to ensure they are evenly moist. Do not let plugs dry out.
4) Just before transplanting, re-check moisture level of all plugs scheduled to be transplanted. Ensure that plugs are thoroughly moist.
