Description
Brunnera macrophylla (20)ct Ellepots
Common Name: Heartleaf Brunnera, Siberian Bugloss.
Zones 3 to 8.
Part Shade to Full Shade.
Plants reach 12 to 18 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide;
Herbaceous perennial with clumping habit that form thick ground covers.
Growth rate: spread vigorously by both creeping rhizomes and self-seeding.

A vigorous grower, Brunnera macrophylla quickly spreading to form mounds of green, heart-shaped leaves. From mid to late spring, baby blue, forget-me-not type flowers are produced in panicles just above the foliage.

Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit 1993
Missouri Botanical Garden Emeritus Plants of Merit.

Brunnera is a woodland plant that is easily grown in average, well-drained soil. Intolerant of dry soils, it prefers consistently moist, organically rich soil. In northern zones, morning sun is tolerable as long as the soil remains moist, and it needs to be grown in full shade with consistently moist soil in southern regions.

Once established little care is needed. Cut back the old foliage in the spring rather than in the fall; it will help to protect the crown during the winter. Winter mulch is also recommended. Though Brunnera tends to self-seed, the resulting seedlings are easy to pull out from unwanted areas or to replant elsewhere in the garden. It may also be propagated by division in the spring.

Attributes: Border plants, Container, Cut flower or foliage, mass planting. Deer resistant.

The Ellepot System is a method of growing in a peat media filled paper tube. Ellepots are environmentally friendly and decompose in the garden.

An Ellepot is a root permeable, biodegradable paper sleeve, instead of plastic. It is beneficial to plant development as root system does not spiral, and natural root development is encouraged.

Guidelines for Handling and Transplanting Elle Plugs
1) We strive to send every Elle plug with sufficient moisture to last through shipping. Upon delivery of your order, inspect all Elle plugs for soil moisture.
2) Water any plugs that appear to be dry immediately. If the Elle paper is dry, then the plug is drying out. All plugs arrive with the addition of a wetting agent to facilitate prompt, even water absorption.
3) If the Elle plugs are to be held for a period of time before transplanting, check the plugs regularly to ensure they are evenly moist. Do not let plugs dry out.
4) Just before transplanting, re-check moisture level of all plugs scheduled to be transplanted. Ensure that plugs are thoroughly moist.
