Achillea millefolium 'Strawberry Seduction' PP18401 (25) plants
Common name: Yarrow; Series Name: Seduction Series.
Zones 3 to 8.
Full sun.
Plants reach 18 to 24 inches tall and 28 to 32 inches wide, this variety has a very robust, compact habit. Growth rate: Rapid, Easy to grow.
Large clusters of strawberry red flowers with a gold center. A uniform blossom height results in the flowers being produced in a domed canopy atop a full, sturdy, upright clump of grey-green foliage. An extended bloomer, flowers blossom on strong, branched stems with shorter internodes (the space between two nodes) all summer long. If the red flowers are left to dry on the stems, 'Strawberry Seduction' looks like it is continuing to bloom as dried flowers turn to buff yellow.
Yarrow thrives in average to poor, well-drained soil. Planted in too rich soil, plants have a tendency to be tall and floppy. Tolerant of humidity, heat and drought, after the flowers have faded, pruning the plant back by half should awaken additional blooms for late summer. In the right location, yarrow can spread aggressively. Plants from seed are not reliable to be true to variety. Divide every few years to keep plants to a manageable size.
Hardy herbaceous perennials, yarrows are one of the easiest perennials to grow and a good choice for beginners.
Excellent as a border plant, in containers or for cut and dried flowers, in mass plantings, and Salt Tolerant. Attracts butterflies, Deer and Rabbit resistant. |
